Salary: GBP90000 - GBP90000 per annum + Additional Benefits

Hampton’s Resourcing are currently supporting a medium sized private company with the recruitment of a Specialty Doctor to join their team at their East Midlands based Hospital.

The Hospital supports 40 women in a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation environment. The ladies we support have severe and enduring mental illness, including personality disorder and those who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act, often coming from multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.

The Role

As a Specialty Doctor you will work alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist to provide continuous medical cover to clients within the service, maintain standards of care and support with initiating treatment plans.

The post-holder will support the Consultant Psychiatrist with the following;

  • Screen and assess referrals
  • Undertake client examination to establish diagnosis
  • Provide appropriate treatment
  • Prescribe and review medication

You will have a key role providing support to the Consultant Psychiatrist in risk management and embedding clinical governance within the service. There is a requirement to participate in ward rounds, multi-disciplinary meetings, Care Programme Approach Meetings (CPA’s), Mental Health Review Tribunals (MHRT’s) ensuring that full and up-to-date clinical information is available to the meeting and ensuring that medical decisions are implemented as planned.

You will also communicate effectively with other agencies and professionals as required for client assessment and for co-ordination of discharge plans.

The appointed candidate will become part of an established onsite team comprising of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Allied Health Professionals, Psychologist, Management, Nursing Staff and Healthcare Support Workers.

Candidate Criteria

  • GMC registration
  • An MBBS (or equivalent) medical qualification
  • Experience as a Staff Grade / Specialty Doctor or Associate Specialist
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills to consult with patients / staff members effectively and document clear and comprehensive medical notes
  • Experience within an adult neuropsychiatry setting
  • Section 12 Approval
  • Royal College of Psychiatrists membership (MRCPsych) or equivalent
  • Have a clear understanding of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
  • Experience in making clinical decisions along with knowledge of risk assessment and management principles

Salary: up to £90,000 + Company Benefits
