ABOUT MULTICULTURAL CHILD AND FAMILY PROGRAM (MCFP)

The Multicultural Child and Family Program provides a range of services to assist children and young people who have been found to need care and protection to meet their permanent care plan needs – safety, stability and wellbeing through a culturally aware and responsive lens.

The MCFP Program uses a client centred, strengths-based, trauma informed framework to guide its service delivery and facilitate sustainable and practical outcomes for children, young people, families and carers; working in partnership with member agencies and local ethnic and sector partners. Its cultural lens aims to link children and young people with a bilingual worker and/or carer and/or community based matched bilingual support worker.

The MCFP Program has contractual responsibilities with FACS and regulatory responsibilities with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG).

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Leading a team of up to 5 caseworkers in the foster care services division, you will primarily be responsible for the intake and referrals processes for the placement of children within the agency with SSI carers and coordinate foster care enquiries, application and assessment processes. You will develop and implement the training and development and support strategies for Multicultural Foster Carers as per policies and procedures. Also coordinate carer reviews and develop carer development plans for prioritised cases and provide additional support the foster carers for new carers when required.

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience with Intakes and referrals preferably in out of home care/foster care
  • Manage the SSI response to general Child and Family enquiries and enquiries from people interested in becoming a foster carer.
  • Manage the response to FACS & other agencies placements through Child Story and Foster Care inbox placement matching.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct relative carer and other general carer assessments and reports
  • Contribute to recruitment and marketing strategies, including identifying cases for specific foster carer recruitment.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of an Annual Training and Development Plan and support strategies for Foster Carers including CALD carers.
  • Comply (with SSI and) with OOHC Policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all data systems for Intake, foster care inquiries, placements, carer assessments and carer reviews and kept up to date and well maintained. Prepare monthly data reports for the Managers meetings and other requests as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Community Welfare, Childhood Education or a related discipline.
  • Undertake Working With Children Check and police check.
