Position Title: Fabricator / Welder
Department: Fab Shop
Hours: Monday - Friday 6am-4:30pm
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Fab Shop Foreman, perform diversified and difficult welding operations on sheet metal work having close tolerances and unusual shapes.
Major Activities:
Layout and prepare templates for complex sheet metal work having irregular shapes and formed sections.
Set-up and operate MIG machines (ability to TIG weld preferred but not required), grinder & saw and otherwise prepare sheet metal parts for assembly.
Assemble, fit and weld parts and check work for dimension and configuration.
Work from drawings, sketches and production orders.
Use scales, square, dividers, calipers, straight edge, micrometers and other precision measuring instruments to layout, set-up and operate machines and check work.
Proceed on assignments with minimal supervision and direction. Receive instruction only on new or unusually complicated work.
Requirements:
High school (or trade school) diploma and minimum of five years experience in welding, blueprint reading and shop math.
High degree of standing, walking and lifting required. Works under pressure due to close tolerances and unusual configurations.
