Service Port Engineer (A1CA2BD842) West Point, Georgia


The Service Port Engineer is a position representing KMA Product Quality residing within in the KMMG/VPC Factory Facility. By physically positioning this engineer at the assembly plant, this allows KMA PQ on-site representation at all times and ensures KMA vehicle quality is placed as high priority in all aspects of VPC and KMMG QC/QA vehicle operations.  The on-site interface also allows “face-to-face” cross functional issue resolution with Factory Team members.  Position location also allows Southern/Eastern Region accessibility to serve technical investigations.

  • Provide on-site factory technical leadership to drive KMA Voice of Customer Quality needs including early identification, quantification and analysis of  product problems
  • Analyze all quality data 
  • Write technical reports to comprehensively describe and quantify problem conditions 
  • Utilize all early warning and quality indicators to drive focused quality agenda and support quick effective countermeasure containment for factory and after sale customers
  • Visit Dealers/customers to analyze difficult quality concerns
  • Conduct Port Process Performance audits – asses and manage port PROCESS effectiveness in delivering defect free vehicles to Dealers 
  • Conduct Monthly POD (Point of Departure audits) to provide feedback on vehicle quality to KMMG/KMC; POD audits identify quality issues that may impact IQS, warranty, customer satisfaction
  • Support ad hoc quality evaluations as required by KMA PQ to sustain highest quality levels
  • Verify effectiveness of product changes made by KMMG / KMC and develop field fixes as necessary and communicate product changes and repair information and instructions to Field and Dealers as required
  • Follow up on countermeasure effectiveness.  Issue tracking and follow up key; elevate risk. Serve as on site liaison for KMA PQ Team



  • Minimum of four year engineering, technical degree or equivalent work experience required
  • ASE Certification (A1-A8) / Advanced Engine Performance (L1) Preferred

Overall Related Experience:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years Engineer/Technician experience in automotive industry required     
  • Strong working knowledge of automobiles with ability to perform hands-on diagnostic assessments along with automotive system mechanical and electrical work required   

Directly Related Experience:

  • Minimum five years automotive industry experience in a product quality or engineering environment required
