SUMMARY


Under the supervision of the Service Technical Training Manager, the Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor improves dealership technician vehicle repair skills and work done right job performance through the effective delivery of performance-based service technical training courses.  These training courses are delivered in the regional training centers, in-dealership or other satellite training locations.
 
In addition to facilitating performance-based training courses, the Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor also administers the associated class participant enrollment process and course completion records.  Other duties include preparation of the training facility, vehicles, and tools/equipment as required by the specific training to be delivered.  This function is preformed regardless of whether the training will be conducted in the regional training center or in a satellite location.  Once course is complete, the Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor also ensures the environment is returned to its appropriate state.
 
The Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor maintains the inventory, control, usage and maintenance of all training center resources and assets such as training vehicles, special service and hand tools, and other vehicle service and repair equipment, in addition to ensuring the facility is equipped with the appropriate safety and first aid supplies.  The Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor participates in the development of training curriculum as a subject matter expert by reviewing draft materials, assisting in validation of technical content accuracy and participating in training course pilot and train-the-trainer sessions.  The Senior/Service Technical Training Instructor practices continuous skill and knowledge improvement in the areas of automotive technology and course facilitation skills to ensure the delivery quality and effectiveness of all training courses meets or exceeds Kia University standards.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

  • Prepare for and facilitate the effective delivery of service technical training courses to Kia dealership technicians to improve vehicle repair skills and work done right the first time job performance.  Monitor all classes to ensure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all times.  Administer the associated class participant enrollment processes and course completion records.
  • Prepare the training facility, vehicles, and tools/equipment as required prior to course delivery and return the environment to its appropriate state once the training is completed.  Administer the course support logistics of conducting training in the mobile/field environment.
  • Maintain the inventory, control, usage and maintenance of all training center resources and assets such as training vehicles, special service and hand tools, and other vehicle service and repair equipment.  Also ensure the facility is equipped with the appropriate safety and first aid supplies.
  • Participate in the development of service technical training curriculum as a subject matter expert.  Review draft materials, assist in validation of technical content accuracy and participate in training course pilot sessions.
  • Practice the continuous improvement of automotive technical and facilitation skills to ensure the delivery quality and effectiveness of all training courses meets or exceeds Kia University standards.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • 2 year technical degree (4 year preferred) or equivalent work experience required.


Overall Related Experience:

  • Must have a strong working knowledge and experience with the delivery of performance-based training curriculum.
  • Working knowledge of dealership service operations with actual work experience preferred.


Directly Related Experience:

  • Previous teaching experience at the high school, college, adult education or manufacturer/distributor level in a technical (automotive preferred) environment.


Other:

  • ASE Master Automobile Technician and L1 Automobile Advanced Engine Performance Specialist certification
  • Must have valid Drivers License and maintain a responsible record that meets the criteria established by KMA.
  • Overnight travel is required.
  • Spanish language skills desired.
