Verathon Medical (Canada) ULC is growing and has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer Team Leader! This position is responsible for critical hardware and system development in support of our medical devices and products. This is a hands-on leadership role where the experienced engineer is expected to work alongside a team to provide technical acumen and development for a variety of technologies.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Lead and coordinate all the electrical engineering activities on one or more projects

·         Create an environment of open communication by utilizing interpersonal skills that effectively allow the team to function properly with an understanding of the issues of importance to the company

·         Effectively supervise, coach and train a team of diverse individuals so as to obtain best from each team member

·         Ensure consistent professional communications with all VMCA team members

·         Plan, design, prototype, test and qualify electronic designs for high reliability and high performance electronic medical devices

·         Support production to resolve their issues efficiently and in a timely manner

·         Design, prototype and test prototype systems

·         Develop solutions that incorporate design for test and design for manufacture concepts

·         Complete design documentation including BOM documents (Bill of Material) and system specifications

·         Participate in product transfer to production 

·         Plan and participate in design reviews

·         Support VMCA's Quality Management System

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

·         BSEE or MSEE required

·         10+ years as an Electrical or Electronics Engineer, 5+ years developing medical products

·         Knowledge of low level Analog, Digital and Mixed signal design including embedded controllers, FPGAs and DSPs

·         Skill in defining and/or refining system architectures utilizing embedded design and windows based technology

·         Knowledge of FDA, IEC and ISO regulations and guidelines preferred

·         Familiar with MS Office, MatLab, Schematic Capture and PCB design (PADs or equivalent)

·         Familiar with digital video technology, digital camera design, digital video processors

·         Familiar with digital memories and storage technologies (SD cards, compact flash etc)

·         Familiar with EMI and ability to design to avoid EMO problems or resolve related problems

·         Familiarity with oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers and other electronic instruments

·         Hands on lab experience including soldering, debugging product testing and verification preferred

·         Detail oriented, well organized and knowledgeable about latest electrical engineering technologies

·         Professional interpersonal communication skills

·         Attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines

·         Ability to motivate a team and lead by example

·         Strong problem solving, analytical and trouble shooting skills

·         Able to make independent judgment using sound engineering principles and techniques
