Role Description

• Define data requirements for the project to allow for the creation of the data sets necessary to meet project objectives

• Development and application of SQL & NonSQL data pulls to acquire and compile the necessary source data. If required, develop and populate new data structures to support the project

• Apply statistical analysis on resulting data sets: applying and interpreting statistical inference methodologies, Predictive Analytics: regression models, cluster analysis, correlations, predictive variables, and other statistical tests and data mining techniques to large datasets to identify meaningful trends and patterns for business decisions

• Collaborate with business partners across the firm to identify and translate operational business needs into appropriate intermediate or complex analyses to support their deliverables



Role Competencies

• Data Definition and Modeling: for each project, execute on the following to create the final data deliverable

• Visualization: this task includes the visual presentation of the data outcomes from above within parameters that business users can understand and employ. Experience using data visualization techniques in Tableau Software R Shiney or other visualization software is critical

• Solid understanding of statistical modeling / segmentation techniques

• Experience in developing and refining predictive models: conceptualize modeling frame work, define data requirements, and create predictive variables. To support these models, the following experience is required

• Deep-dive statistical analysis on very large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets, and experience applying and interpreting statistical inference methodologies, decision trees, and other traditional statistical tests and data mining techniques to large datasets to identify meaningful trends and patterns across client segments and markets

• Collaborate with business partners to identify and translate operational business needs into appropriate intermediate or complex analyses

• Bachelor’s level degree (or equivalent experience) required; Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics and/or Computer Science or related focus is a plus

• 5-10 years experience in statistical data mining and application, ideally related to the energy industry or equivalent related experience

• 5+ years energy industry experience is a plus

• Demonstrated ability to effectively define and deliver innovative data analytics that advance the product and assist in positioning opportunities with current clients through innovative views of their portfolio. Strong understanding of database development and structure, along with advanced statistical analysis and modeling required

• Demonstrated ability to translate data into viable “stories” and associated energy efficiency opportunities, along with the resulting path for the firm's business solutions with clients

• In depth experience with MS SQL, R, R Shiny, Python, and/or Tableau or related software

• Experience with data administration including designing, implementing, and populating database tables that support Data Sciences team projects

• Entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to problem solving

• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications skills

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate at all levels.
