VP of Quality Assurance (QA)

VP of Quality Assurance (QA) (BBBH108213) Raleigh, North Carolina

Duties:

Manage all conformance test activities within the engineering organization. This includes staffing the team and managing resource assignments; developing test strategies and plans; executing those strategies and plans according to the schedules agreed with the product development program teams; and publishing test reports and results.

Own all processes, tools, and metrics for the QA department. Improve the productivity and quality of the QA team’s output, using best known methods from the software industry, with a heavy focus on test automation.

Own the Engineering Quality Strategy, and promote the vision contained therein across the engineering organization. Review and coordinate all product development programs’ Unified Quality Strategies for conformance with the vision. Measure the results.

Own the Product Life Cycle Process, and upgrade it to become more agile and more solution-oriented. Review the process within engineering and other organizations and drive a consensus.

Develop a set of metrics to measure each product development program’s conformance to the new process.

Develop a set of metrics that measure engineering productivity. Drive the collection of these metrics as part of our standard process, and publish the results – with insights – at regular intervals. Required Experience and Education:

-BS and (preferably) MS in computer science and/or engineering
-15+ years of experience in software quality assurance, as a hands-on tester and manager in a product development environment,
OR:
-15+ years of experience in software development, as a developer and manager in a product development environment
-Mix of small and large company experience preferred

Required Skills and Competencies:

-Expert agile project management skills; “scrum master” certification preferred
-Superior organizational skills; ability to keep track of 40+ simultaneous programs
-Ability to manage geographically dispersed team, and partner with peers in remote locations
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluency in precise question & answer techniques
-A passion for data: collecting it, analyzing it, presenting it, explaining it
