Senior PHP Developer
Location: --Londonderry

Our client is an award winning, technology led, design house company that produce a number of main products. They tailor most of these products for their various clients but have the ability and flexibility to go that extra mile for these clients and produce particular products from scratch.
They have reached an exciting time in their rapid growth since they started out 4 years ago and have a current requirement for a Senior PHP Developer who can build web applications. Their technology is mainly all built on open source platforms and the team is made of techies who live and breathe this technology. The good news is that they have a space for a senior PHP programmer to join the team and help build great code for their customers. This is a challenging role for someone with sound experience and the desire to make a real difference.
About you:
- You’ll have 7 years + experience of building web applications in open source technology
- You’ll have a computer related qualification (degree or similar) and a track record of demonstrable success
- You’ll understand and be comfortable with most parts of the development cycle, from initial concept to finished deliverable
- You’ll be able to build a solution from the front end to the back and understand the importance of each part of the puzzle
- You’ll be articulate, positive and solutions driven
- You’ll be a team player
- You’ll be curious and want to find the right solution in the circumstances
- You’ll care passionately about our customers and want to build products that fit their needs
- You may have experience of Moodle and/or Wordpress
- You’ll understand version control and be comfortable working in a structured development environment
The role:
- This role comes with big expectations and the successful candidate will be able to show that he/she can develop into a leadership role. We’ll be looking to you to help us set the tone
- As well as developing great code yourself you’ll be expected to work with other members of the team as a mentor and coach them to be as good, or better than you
- You’ll often be customer facing and be responsible for translating user requirements into specifications and ultimately into deliverables
- You’ll be responsible for estimating timescales and will work closely with the development manager to schedule activity and get this delivered
- You’ll test your own work and the work of others, providing constructive feedback and helping the testing team get through their test cycles efficiently
- You’ll take the time to scan the technical horizon for new innovations and feed these into our roadmap
- The position is based in Derry but will require some travel throughout the UK and possibly further afield.
