Safety and Health Specialist (Waterloo, IA) (291355) Iowa, USA

Position Summary:
Manage all aspects of Industrial Safety and Health related issues for the Waterloo, IA location. Duties include, but are not limited to: Coordination of all training to meet state and federal OSHA requirements, maintaining all records in compliance with state and federal OSHA requirements, procurement of all safety supplies and equipment, managing hazard communication program, conducting accident and near miss investigations and keep records on all near misses or OSHA recordable incidents, manage workers’ compensation claims, lead all safety and ergonomic inspections, conduct new hire safety orientations.

Accountabilities:
• Maintain understanding and knowledge of current federal, state, and company regulations and policies. Inform organization of changes and administer actions to maintain compliance.
• Perform Job Hazard Analysis, System Auditing, and Ergonomic Task Analysis.
• Coordinate and Conduct injury review process to determine and correct root cause.
• Assist in leading and implementing injury reduction efforts. Promote “Zero Injury Culture” initiative.
• Assist in leading and implementing injury reduction efforts. Promote “Zero Injury Culture” initiative.
• Track and report operational safety performance.
• Analyze new equipment and verify operator safety.
• Conduct safety training programs for all levels of operation.
• Provide leadership and drive for plant safety committees.
• Function as emergency coordinator and develop/drive emergency response initiatives.
• Assist in leading operation to best practice and best in class for safety efforts.
• Assist organization by participating in special taskforce assignments and special projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Dedicated and committed safety leadership and presence.
Solid people skills with professional demeanor.
• Ability to teach others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• 5 years experience leading all aspects of industrial safety and health and worker’s compensation requirements in a manufacturing operation.

Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Business, or Engineering.
