Motor Vehicle Technician

Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT5014) Scarborough, England

Castle Education are looking to recruit a Motor Vehicle Technician to safely, effectively and efficiently maintain specialist facilities and to provide high quality technical support to academic staff and learners within these areas.

The role is full time on a temporary contract, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the suitable candidate and would involve working for a local Further Education provider with an excellent reputation in relation to developing vocational skills.

The role would involve the preparation of the specialist and associated areas as specified by the academic staff to support clean, safe and well maintained learning environments, to provide supervision of specialist areas where learners are working independently to ensure safe and appropriate use of resources, to contribute to the management of the resources, commercial bookings and area budgets and to provide classroom/workshop support to teachers and trainers to ensure safe and effective learner to staff ratios and to perform any other such duties as reasonably desired for the relevance of the post and as advised by the lead technician. You may also be required to drive the mini bus, where appropriate, so a full, clean driving licence will be essential.

You must be eligible to work in the UK and successful placement will be subject to being granted or holding a valid DBS, dated within the last 6 months.

The ideal candidate will hold (or be willing to work towards) a Level 2 or higher qualification in the related area, have a minimum Level 2/GCSE grade C in Maths and English, A first aid qualification (or willingness to undertake one within 12 months) and a relevant assessor qualification. You will also have previous experience of working in a related industry or designated area and a minimum of 2 years recent professional development in related industry and previous demonstrative experience of working with students. You will be able to demonstrate excellent customer care skills, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team. Good time management skills and an ability to multi task are important, as is a willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends when required.
