Technician for Food, Art and Science Departments (MB1003) North Yorkshire, England

Technician for Food, Science and Art Departments required. Full time, permanent role, January 2018 start date.

Castle Education are currently recruiting for a full time, permanent technician, to join an "Outstanding" School in North Yorkshire, to offer support in their Food, Science and Art departments. This role is for a January start and is 37 hours a week, term time only. 

The role is to work under the supervision and direction of the teachers in Food preparation and nutrition, Science and Art departments (with the majority of the work being within the Science and Food departments), as part of a team to support learning by providing assistance through the co-ordination, preparation and maintenance of teaching areas and equipment for pupils. The main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :-

> Prepare resources/materials/equipment for lessons, as directed

> Support practical activities for pupils

> Give basic technical advice to teachers, technicians and pupils, which may entail assisting with demonstrations

> Offer guidance, assistance and support to pupils and teachers on the practical aspects of the curriculum

> Record observations in an appropriate manner

> Assist and prepare with basic demonstrations

> Keep up to date with current procedures and practices through continuous professional development

> Undertake record keeping as required.

The ideal candidate will have appropriate experience of working with children, ideally relevant to Science, Food or Art and must have good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with a range of staff, pupils and parents. You must also have the ability to work successfully as part of a team and be able to exercise discretion and judgement. Someone with good time management skills and the ability to complete required duties and tasks within the time frame will be essential.
