Salary: GBP20000 - GBP30000 per annum

Castle Education are currently looking for a part-time Programme Leader in Hairdressing to start work in September 2018 within the seaside town of Scarborough on the Yorkshire Coast.

We are working with a large, innovative and dynamic Further Education organisation to appoint a Hairdresser to lead courses including apprenticeships and vocational training courses for budding young hairdressers. Applicants should ideally have a teaching qualification and a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification. A Level 4 subject specialist qualification would also be preferable as well as experience across your specialist field. You must be eligible to work in the UK and successful placement will be subject to being granted or holding a valid DBS. 

As a Hairdresser, you will have experience of cutting, colouring and styling hair and you will have experienced the customer service and care element of the role of a hairdresser. You will have suitable qualifications including Health and Safety and experience of barbering would also be beneficial. For those working in the industry, this role is 18.5 hours a week and suitable to go alongside other part-time work.

You will be responsible for coordinating coherent learning programmes through effective teamwork and take responsibility for ensuring high-quality information, advice and guidance; recruitment, retention, achievement and progression of individual learners within a framework of continuous quality improvement.

You will have a proven track record of providing an excellent experience to learners through exemplary teaching and learning to support standards of assessment.  You are also responsible for leading the course team to drive a high-quality learner experience through all stages of the learning journey; and take responsibility for collating reviewing and disseminating, all aspects of learner progress.

To be successful as a Programme Leader you must be approachable, self-motivated and possess high levels of empathy. You must be an excellent negotiator and able to use your initiative to solve problems, often involving different stakeholders. 

You must be comfortable working with a range of IT packages so that you can access and utilise the technology available. You'll be required to support learners in achieving a level 2 qualification in Maths and English so you must be able to demonstrate this level of competence yourself.
