Teacher - Behavior Specialist

Teacher - Behavior Specialist (BS1017) Scarborough, England

Castle Education are seeking a Behavioral Specialist Teacher who can show unwavering commitment to students with emotional support needs and a commitment to improve the knowledge, skills, and lives of each of these students. 

The role is required for a local organisation that works with pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools to support these pupils to either be re-instated into mainstream schooling or to continue their studies either in small groups, one to one or even in a classroom environment.

The role is temporary but could be full time and long terms placements are possible.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishing a positive, fun, structured, achievement focused classroom
  • Driving student achievement for students with emotional support needs in their class
  • Providing instruction to students with emotional support needs
  • Working together with other staff members to implement each student’s IEP
  • Monitoring and responding to progress monitoring results and student assessment data
  • Collaborating with related services providers to implement strategies to increase student achievements

  • Ability to provide high quality instruction in several subject areas: reading/literature, math, science, and social studies
  • Requires a candidate who is calm, present, predictable, and will not become escalated in response to challenging behaviour from students

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Requires special education certification
  • Background in teaching students with ED classifications.
