 Manager - UK Data Governance
Location: --Reading
Salary: GBP45000 - GBP55000 per annum + car, bonus and benefits
Responsibilities:
◦Instructs, directs and reviews work of less experienced data governance analysts
◦Maintains information governance policies and procedures to support current and future data information needs
◦Ensures proper data definitions, ownership, use and integrity of data for consistency
◦Analyses more complex business user needs, documents information requirements, facilitates the identification of potential gaps in available data and collaborates with business areas to determine best means for acquiring the data needed and the appropriate stewardship
◦Collaborates with other IT resources on the creation and maintenance of the company’s data dictionary and manages the Data Stewardship program.
◦Establishes and maintains excellent knowledge of the company’s business taxonomy, data, data structure design, definitions, capabilities, and data integrity issues
◦Ensures that data definitions are clear and current, and communicates changes to data definitions to all users
◦Collaborates with IT resources and data owners/stewards to define business objectives and definitions for databases including business rules and sources
◦Hire, develop and retain quality team members.
◦Align team members with the organisation’s mission and long-term success.
◦Work with team members to set their performance objectives which are in alignment with corporate objectives.
◦Create an environment within the team that inspires high performance and hold all team members accountable to performance objectives and behaviour standards, to include documented periodic reviews of performance.
◦Conduct regular department meetings to communicate department objectives.
◦Prioritise work flow to meet department deadlines.
Experience, knowledge and skills required for the role include:
◦Team management experience (position will be managing one employee)
◦Experience working in and/or managing a Data/Information Governance program
◦Strong data analysis skills
◦Strong business intelligence experience
◦Systems/ Applications experience - Data Warehouse-Netezza, Cognos, Infomatica
◦Experience of working with BI teams and developers
◦Knowledge of taxonomy
◦Experience of liaising with a range of business stakeholders
◦Strong organisation and prioritisation skills relating to managing multiple projects
