Java/J2EE Developer

Location:  --Reading
Salary:  GBP40000 - GBP60000 per annum + bonus and benefits


Role Responsibilities:

◦Design, plan, develop, deploy and maintain working software in a fast-paced environment using agile methods and iterative delivery of business value
◦Participate in a scrum team dedicated to the development of internal sales and business support tools, including GIS, mobile, content acquisition and management and sales process management.
◦Use and exploit the latest development technologies and suites to produce and deploy software, and mentor others in the same
◦Build solutions using Java, XML and web services

Qualifications/Technical Knowledge:

Essential:

◦Expert in Java, JMS, XML, SOAP, web services and JEE application architecture
◦Familiar with JSF,JSPs, Taglibs, Ajax, REST
◦J2EE development and deployment, preferably within a JBoss context
◦Expert with open source libraries and frameworks such as Spring & the Apache libraries
◦Expert in agile and iterative development methodologies, TDD and fast business capability turn-around
◦Build and deploy for SOA and SAAS production environments
◦Experience of leading/mentoring developers/engineers and providing training (for the senior level role)

Desirable:

◦Applicants with development experience with XQuery or the areas of search engines and information retrieval will be at a particular advantage.
◦Experience with writing and deploying highly scalable server-side components
◦Familiarity with Oracle and/or SAP in the context of using JDBC and Hibernate or a similar persistence framework
◦Prior experience with map APIs / SDKs
◦Experience with the automated testing of XML-based web services
