Financial Accountant – Cambourne – Initially 6 months – Competitive day rate
Advantage Resourcing are currently looking to recruit an interim Financial Accountant to work within a Government Organisation based in Cambourne.

The role is initially a 6 month contract with the potential to be extended. Competitive rate. Please be aware the rate will be paid PAYE.

This fantastic opportunity will see you providing an effective financial accounting service in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and the policies and proper expectations of the Head of Finance and the Council. You will be responsible for the planning and preparation of annual statement of accounts, summary accounts and supporting information. You will be liaising with external auditors, as required, to provide additional information and explanations to enable agreement on accounting treatments.

Additional duties will include but are not limited to: -
• To be responsible for capital accounting, providing specialist knowledge to ensure effective financing and accounting for capital expenditure
• Providing reports and financial advice
• Preparing major cross-service statutory and other returns
• As required, you will play a role in the formation of budgets and forecasts, both revenue and capital, working closely with service managers, senior officers
• You will ensure that regular, accurate financial management information is available to managers and inform the member decision making process

The successful candidate will ideally have:
• CCAB accountancy qualification, or equivalent, or demonstrable experience of working at this level
• Experience of the public sector is highly desirable
• A strong financial accounting background
• Experience of working in a finance and accounting role in a complex organisation to include providing advice and guidance on financial processes, procedures and requirements to non-financial managers and staff
• Experienced in dealing with external audit queries
• Experience of writing clear reports and ability to present these to various audiences
• The ability to communicate and interpret complex and technical financial information clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrable influencing and negotiating skills
• Ideally you will hold knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and accounting practice
