Our client, a rapidly growing and highly ambitious company based in North Oxfordshire is seeking to appoint an equally ambitious and highly skilled Head of Design to manage, develop, lead and inspire their in-house design department. They are looking for someone with at least 5 years’ experience as a Senior Designer with a great eye for modern, colourful and energetic design and experience of leading projects across print, production and digital platforms.
What does the role involve?
As the Head of Design, you will be managing all aspects of the design and creative output and take responsibility for all online and offline designs as well as the commercial success of the design department. As part of this you will be managing the team’s productivity and schedule, offering hands on direction and ensuring all projects are completed on time and to budget. You will also be involved in offering strategic leadership, working with the Creative Director in coming up with solutions to design challenges, provide quality control over the design output and establish best practice with the design and creative team.
What skills and experience are required?
• 5+ years of experience from within a Senior Designer role
• Excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
• Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography & limitations of online and offline design work
• The ability to storyboard or translate ideas to designers and others, influencing external and internal stakeholders
• Attention to detail
• Ability to lead design projects from concept to completion
• Ability to supervise and develop employees
• Experience with software including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign as well as 3D modelling and animation software
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
