Across Latin America (LATAM), Natixis provides a range of financial services to its customers and strives to conduct business according to the highest standard of ethics and customer protection.
The role of the Latam Compliance Advisory Officer is to ensure that the firm and its employees conduct business in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations, across LATAM including but not limited to the rules and regulations of the countries where Natixis rep offices are located ( Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Peru), as well as the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, the Federal Reserve Bank, and other US regulators. Natixis must also conduct business in accordance with global regulatory requirements, as applicable.
The Latam Compliance Advisory Officer will provide actionable advice and insight to all businesses of Natixis conducted within LATAM, including US personnel conducting business in Latam jurisdictions. Such advice includes but is not limited to anti-money laundering & government sanctions, information barriers and conflicts, origination, debt capital markets, lending, trading and sales practice as applicable, regulatory reporting, as well as other new regulatory initiatives within the Americas and globally (e.g., Volcker in the US, MIFID II in Europe) that may have an impact on the activities carried out by Natixis in LATAM.
 The LATAM Compliance Advisory Officer will also be responsible for managing on a day-to-day basis the integration of the Natixis LATAM activities into the overall compliance framework developed from New York for the Latin America region.
In addition, the Latam Compliance Advisory Officer will be responsible for:
- Managing all aspects of the Compliance support and providing guidance to all desks conducting business in LATAM;
- Providing transaction advice and day to day regulatory guidance as necessary
- Coordinating compliance efforts across various compliance and other support groups to support businesses
- Developing an understanding of the lines of products offered by assigned business lines, the relevant rules and regulations as well as the types of compliance issues associated with the respective business lines
- Evaluating compliance with policies and procedures and internal controls through compliance reviews and training sessions;
- Ensuring regulatory and internal audits examinations of assigned activities; regulatory inquiries and preparations are responded to, escalated and followed up on as necessary;
- Reviewing global compliance policies and procedure and determine whether they comply with local requirements; Participate in various Americas and global projects and assess impact on relevant businesses;
- Developing and conducting targeted training modules, as necessary, to address various regulatory and other risks;
- Developing policies and procedures related to LATAM regulations;
- Providing advice/input to the Americas Chief Compliance Officer with respect to various LATAM regulatory initiatives.
- 4-year degree in Economics, Finance, Business Management, or equivalent. MBA, JD, or equivalent advanced degree helpful but not required.
- 10 years’ experience in Compliance advisory background within a global financial services firm or with a regulator required.
- Experience/contact with LATAM regulators.
- Demonstrated success in working with various business lines and providing compliance/legal advice that is solutions driven but also protects the firm.
- Demonstrated success in developing a “culture of Compliance” and integrating compliance in day-to-day business activities.
- Knowledge of LATAM regulations including, but not limited to, regulations on marketing and lending practices. Experience in the execution of a compliance program, including risk assessment methodology, annual control and training plans, and responding to regulatory inquiries and potential findings, among other things.
- Extensive knowledge LATAM financial markets and products is highly valued. Experience applying financial markets regulations is required.
- Knowledge of ongoing developments, regulations, and industry best practices surrounding Information Security a plus.
- Superior communication skills are a must. Skillful written communication is necessary; the ability to convey thoughts clearly and succinctly and to communicate pertinent complex information in a clear and organized manner.
- Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, working under pressure to meet deadlines, and the ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and influencing skills with staff at all levels - uses communication and diplomacy skills to gain acceptance of an idea, plan, or activity.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, meet individual goals, and contribute to group projects in a newly-established business environment.
