Branch Controller (T9E 7S8) Edmonton, Canada

Our client is currently seeking a Branch Controller to join our Edmonton or Nisku location. The incumbent will contribute to the financial and operational success of the company by:

Primary Responsibilities
·    Analyzing sales and cost data to ensure these fall within acceptable norms, and interpreting and summarizing these effectively for department managers
·    Working with operational staff to identify and implement process improvements. Developing forecasting tools to assist with budgeting, strategic planning and pricing decisions
·    Review and interpret operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operation and trends
·    Identify cost reduction and profit improvement opportunities
·    Maintain accurate records through appropriate procedures, systems and controls
·    Publish a monthly operations report for the business units by analyzing and summarizing data drawn from our information system, and presenting the data in numeric and graphic form in a manner that is clear, concise, informative and a guide to appropriate decision making by management
·    Compile monthly trend reports for Key Performance Indicators
·    Monitor organizational financial performance and initiate contact with managers to discuss recommendations for corrective action
·    Monitor AFE spending levels against approved budgets and provide early warning to managers of potential cost overruns
·    Management/monitoring of working capital including inventory, assets, receivables
·    Identify process improvement opportunities, facilitate meetings to identify root cause and recommend solutions, and follow through to ensure that recommended solutions are fully and properly implemented
·    Assist the product line managers in formulating annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
·    Supervisory duties

·    Must have CMA, CGA, CA designation.
·    Five years of progressive experience in private sector accounting (preferably industrial)
·    Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
·    Proficient in MS Excel and familiarity with MS Office are mandatory
·    Experience with JD E and Hyperion is preferred
·    Strong analytical skills, an eye for detail
·    Previous supervisory experience
·    Good communication skills both verbal and written
·    Successful completion of a Pre-employment Medical, Drug & Alcohol test
