To design and develop electronics for use downhole in directional drilling control systems.  Responsible for the design from proof of concept through qualification testing and release into production.


  •     To provide robust Engineering solutions with regards to environmental factors (pressure / temperature / vibration) that meet written specifications; these are to be designed to quality and time requirements
  •     To provide the PCB designer with full details of the circuits, components and special layout requirements
  •     Build and test prototype circuits to qualify the design, ensuring that the design requirements are met
  •     Write production test specifications and design any test boxes that may be required
  •     Investigate and seek to resolve any issues arising in connection with the production and operation of equipment
  •     Assist with the design and write code for the downhole micro-controllers through liaison with the software department
  •     Stay in touch with the design throughout its life cycle, modifying and improving it as required
  •     To carry out any other duties as reasonably required by the R&D Engineering Manager

As a minimum, the successful candidate will possess:

  •     Bachelors Degree in Electronic and/or Electrical Engineering with P.Eng status
  •     Experience with downhole control systems and high temperature electronics
  •     Minimum of 5 years related oilfield experience
  •     Prior experience with Rotary Steerable Systems considered an asset
  •     Looking for an individual with strong mentorship skills to support the leadership of a team
  •     Expert English Language communication skills, both verbal and written required
