PeopleSoft Application DBA and Infrastructure Technical Lead (LEX00956) Dayton, Ohio

Technical leadership position exists to provide Oracle application DBA expertise to both the PeopleSoft  (PS) HR and Finance systems and teams as well as responsibility for the management and oversight of the PeopleSoft HR Infrastructure and System Administration resources and deliverables.   This role works in collaboration with the PeopleSoft systems teams, management, and RE Technology Services, and others as appropriate, to deliver enterprise and system level consulting on PeopleSoft software architecture, design, and strategic direction as well as Oracle database and application tuning, performance monitoring, capacity planning, database-level security, etc. 

 

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

o Provides Oracle Application DBA technical expertise, delivery and thought leadership within the PeopleSoft HR, Portal and Finance Application suites, version 9.0+.
o Interface directly with Service Providers to leverage defined work requirements and deliverables.
o Manages the PeopleSoft HR-related  Infrastructure; all facets from sizing to ongoing maintenance.
o Manages PeopleSoft HR System Administration activities with resource oversight.
O Acts as the primary contact for PeopleSoft HR technical strategy and vision setting in the HR Infrastructure space.
o Manages the procurement lifecycle including the research and associated sizings with the purchase of PeopleSoft and Oracle Database hardware,  including ongoing sizing requirements for Oracle database architecture.
o Ensures the PeopleSoft HR engineering teams, PeopleSoft domain technical experts and the PeopleSoft System Administration function are working in harmony.
o Collaborates with the PeopleSoft domain architect ensuring that all PeopleSoft Human Resources solutions adhere to the company's architectural standards.
o Seeks diverse ideas, perspectives, best practice and industry trends from a variety of sources (internal and external) to create better PeopleSoft solutions, products, and services.
o Challenges the status quo as needed as it relates to PeopleSoft HR system infrastructure direction.
o Perform impact analysis on all PeopleSoft and PeopleTools updates, and provide proposals for applying them effectively.
o Proactively manage the database environment to identify and recommend alternatives to poorly coded applications, including consulting with end users and developers to recommend the most appropriate solutions.
o Assist application development with database design considerations.
o Assist in the designs of data security models to help protect data.
o Provide service and support determined by the current Service Level Objectives, including on-call support.
o Provide support for database and systems problems, working with IT (RETS) personnel to resolve database and application issues.
o Provide overall strategies based on industry best practice for day to day database operations for both HR and Finance systems.

 

Education/Experience
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent
o 7+ years experience required including previous PeopleSoft HR  implementation(s)

o Strong knowledge of computer software, such as SQL, SQL*Plus, SQL*DBA, PL/SQL, UNIX Shell Programming, Oracle Enterprise Manager, RMAN, Oracle Express Analyzer and Administrator, PeopleTools, Oracle RDBMS 10g/11g, PeopleSoft HR and Financials 9.0 application familiarity, etc
o Strong knowledge of Operating Systems, such as Redhat Linux 4-5.6, DOS, Windows 2008, Windows 7
o Extensive hands on experience with PeopleSoft Infrastructure and PeopleSoft System Administration area.
o Extensive performance tuning of PeopleSoft application components and Oracle databases.
o Current experience with latest PeopleTools and Oracle database
o Current experience with leveraging ongoing maintenance on Oracle databases in a PeopleSoft Context.
o Working knowledge of Physical Database Server Architectural requirements
o Working knowledge of Archive technologies and strategies
o Ability to design work requirements and collaborate with Service Providers for the delivery of such.
o Ability to work and collaborate effectively with offshore resources and associated support models.
o Tenacity; ability to work through problems and reach a solution.
o Ability to work in ambiguous situations.
o Proven ability to effectively influence peers and leaders.
