Job:  System Administrator

  • Responsible for daily administration of production Linux servers
  • Responsible for the deployment and daily administration of production Web environments (Apache and Tomcat)
  • Responsible for the deployment and daily administration of production game systems using custom Execution Management System (built in-house)
  • Install, maintain and upgrade Linux systems and components
  • Coordinate with internal teams and hosting provider to troubleshoot and escalate problems to resolution
  • Manage and gather statistical trending data for capacity planning
  • Assist developers in implementing changes in non-production environments
  • Document operational processes and procedures
  • Participate in production support and on-call duties


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A minimum of 5 years systems administration experience (with at least 3 years directly supporting production servers)
  • Strong Linux administration background (Redhat/CentOS preferred) including system installation and configuration, configuration and troubleshooting of networking and TCP/IP-based services such as DNS/SMTP/LDAP, fundamentals of security, installing third-party software, process management, kernel tuning and resource monitoring
  • Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, bash, etc)
  • Experience with web and application services running Apache HTTPD and Tomcat (or similar technology) in a load balanced environment
  • On call experience, and knowledge of how to handle various situations that arise


  • A Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field
  • MySQL Database knowledge (config locations, data locations, know how to add accounts, run basic queries, backups)
  • MMO Systems Administration experience
