This focus of this position will be Solaris Server Platform, along with associated applications – Weblogic, iPlanet, Vertias Clustering, Netbackup, Linux LVM, Apache, NFS, Samba, SMTP, 3rd party vendors. Candidate will perform full system/project life-cycle phases (analysis, design, construction, implementation, support) for our technical infrastructure, hardware, system software components, and application software components for small to moderately complex projects; interfacing with other teams and business stakeholders.
Coordinate and work projects focused in the Solaris, Linux Server platform space. Includes refresh for existing systems as well as new deployments.
Modifies, maintains and updates software, firmware, drivers, anti-virus and system updates coordinating through a practice of Change Management, Configuration Management and Release Management.
Scripting administrative tasks within the Linux/UNIX Server platform.
Performs routine monitoring, administration, repair and maintenance of the products within the managed environments.
Responsible for maintaining customer Service Level requirements (Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning, data security and recovery, and Production level policies and procedures).
Responsible for capacity management, expansion and growth planning.
Manage Linux and Veritas cluster system installations, configuration and provide documents where necessary.
Provide expert-level support of the Symantec Netbackup environment.
Clearly document maintenance and support procedures for routine tasks in order to leverage tier 1 NOC support.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation and off-hours maintenance windows.
Job requires solid technical knowledge of appropriate hardware and software to support the systems that meets the business requirements. Various Server Technologies - Apache, SSH, FTP, Telnet, SSL, Active Directory, – along with other web-based applications.
Requires scripting expertise within the Linux platform.
Requires administrative familiarity/experience with other server platforms and related technologies - AIX/Solaris/Linux/SAN/Backups/Monitoring.
