Backup/Recovery Administrator
Responsible for providing support for the Backup Administration duties. Architects, designs, plans, implements, administers, controls and provides customer support for backup and recovery.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
o Knowledge of tape media and backup policies
o Basic knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning with backup jobs
o Basic knowledge of Backup and Recovery best practices for current VMware, AIX, Windows, and Linux operation systems, Files systems, SQL Server, Oracle, and Exchange
o Solid server operating systems knowledge (AIX, Windows, and Linux)
o Strong working knowledge of Fibre Channel SAN concepts and technologies
JOB DUTIES
o Supports a 24x7 operation, and carry a cell phone and/or pager
o Manages and administrates an enterprise level backup and recovery suite
o Maintains proper backup schedules, restore and recover data as requested, and facilitate off-site storage of tape
o Works appropriate moderate level infrastructure tasks and tickets
o Assists in writing technical and operational management documentation (system design and engineering documents, operational run books)
o Helps develop and implement standards and opportunities for automation and efficiencies for day to day operations
o Works with vendors to resolve escalated hardware and software issues
o Capacity planning and performance analysis of backup infrastructure
o Ensures completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system stability and performance
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
o Bachelor’s degree preferred
o Requires 2+ years of information and systems administration experience
o Requires 2+ years experience in backup technologies
o Experience with Symantec NetBackup preferred
o Experience with Spectra T950 Tape Library and FalconStor VTL preferred
