VMWare Engineer
Prestigious London based client requires an accomplished VMWare Engineer to work within their Infrastructure Operations Team. The VMWare Engineer should have solid financial services experience as well as be able to work some outside hours and weekend work. The VMWare Engineer will lead and assist with migration activities for building the VDI infrastructure along with other associated and related tasks. You will have excellent communication skills and work effectively between numerous teams for the purposes of fixing complex issues, reporting problems to project leaders, dealing with business or senior managers or invoking vendor support arrangements. The VMWare Engineer will offer deep technical insight into vendor optimizations and best practices around performance enhancements, security, monitoring and other features to enhance the environment you're building out. Flexibility to work weekend and evening is required, whilst not a frequent occurrence we do expect your dedication to extend beyond the 9-5 day, when needed
Essential
• VMWare Specialist / VMWare Engineer / VMWare SME
• IT Systems Build Engineer
• Virtualisation/ VDI infrastructure
• Dell Sleds, Dell Chassis, Dell hyper-converged and Citrix XenDesktop VDI.
• vSan, vSphere 6.5, troubleshooting, build and deliver experience.
• Previous experience of supporting a large (100+ Server) VMWare Environment
• Previous experience in upgrade and migration of VDI in a large environment
• Understanding of installation of physical hardware in the datacentre (cabling, subnets, routing, vlans and LACP)
• HP Moonshot or Dell/HP Chassis implementation skills
• Installation of physical hardware
• Virtual Appliance installation / management
• Good verbal and written communication
• Beneficial: VMware Certified Associate (VCA)/ VMware Certified Professional (VCP)/ VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)/ VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX) or VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
• Financial services/Investment banking background a benefit
