Tax Manager (5455/7735) Warren, Ohio
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist AVI reach its goals through audit, tax, advisory, and risk assessment
- Ensure annual earnings, expenditures and investments are reported with accuracy and completeness
- Plan and prepare state and federal returns for AVI
- Plan and prepare multiple state and local sales tax returns
- Interpret the U.S. tax code
- Research the implications of tax laws and advise on tax-related issues
- Help minimize task risks associated with IPOs, mergers, and acquisitions, and other business dealings.
- Audit internal controls for accuracy
- Track income and property taxes
- Research and develop tax-saving strategies
- Reconcile tax data on financial statements
- Plan, direct, and execute various tax projects
- Perform research and prepare/review technical tax memorandum
- Manage, develop, and mentor staff/managers on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback
- Oversee complex tax research projects
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with a concentration in tax
- 5 + years of senior level tax experience
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (formerly Great Plains) preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to present financial results professionally
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong leadership skills as well as initiative to accomplish goals
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities to meet and/or exceed deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of accounting/tax and company information
- Experience in state and local tax
