The largest recycler of Steel in the UK and through using Electric Arc Steel-making, Vacuum Induction Melting, Mill processing and our dedicated service centres. Producing and supplying a variety of high-value precision-engineered products for Aerospace, Oil and Gas, Industrial Engineering, Bar and Narrow Strip.
A bit about the role:
Reporting to the team leader / shift engineer assisting in the efficient operation of the mechanical function. Following routine planned maintenance schedules, reporting of duties and responding to breakdowns
Provision of reactive and preventative maintenance to mechanical plant of a heavy engineering plant.
Working to a good standard of health and safety in a team working environment
Working pattern:
The rota pattern is Monday – Friday on a 4 week cycle:
Week 1 - 3 x 12h days (06.00 – 18.00)
Week 2 – 5 x 8h days (07.00 – 15.00)
Week 3 – 1 x 8h day, then 3x 12h nights
Week 4 - 5 x 8h days (07.00 – 15.00)
Health and Safety:
Ability to follow Safe working procedures
Aware of basic risk assessment and able to at point risk assess / identify hazards
Working at heights
Isolation and Immobilisation systems
Demonstrate a good all round level of Health, safety and environment awareness specific to the role
To be successful within this role you will ideally have:
Recognised Mechanical apprenticeship (HNC level or equivalent)
Mechanical experience of heavy manufacturing industry (advantages)
Maintenance of Gearbox’s and coupling systems
Use of mechanical equipment, specialist tools, lifting equipment for example
Fault finding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Mechanical maintenance of handling equipment, pumps and pipework systems
Crane maintenance
PPM systems / inspections and condition monitoring
Equipment / spares strip down and rebuild – bench fitting / refurbishment work
Basic hydraulic, welding and pipefitting
Good level of problem solving awareness
Reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns
Demonstrate good housekeeping awareness and standards
Experience of adhering to SWP’s, risk assessments, procedures and permit systems
Team working, worked within a team and / or capable of self-direction
