Financial Controller

Castle Employment are looking for an experienced, hands on Financial Controller to join a manufacturing business based near York, North Yorkshire.

Requirements:

Reporting to the Finance Director, the role of Financial Controller would ideally suit a qualified (ideally ACA, ACCA or CIMA) accountant with strong technical and analytical skills (including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and ERP systems), together with experience of working within a group environment. 

Duties will include; 

  • Producing Monthly management accounts and variance analysis
  • Monthly and weekly cash forecasting and reporting
  • Quarterly profit forecasting
  • Annual budget including setting of departmental budgets with assistance for departmental heads & monitoring of those costs
  • Forecasting and budgeting 
  • Internal audit duties 
  • Deputise for the Finance Director when required
  • Management of the cap-ex process 
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns 
  • Improve the quality of the financial governance, drive systems development and develop procedures to improve the quality of information available
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis as require

The successful Financial Controller will have:

  • A high degree of computer literacy - including MS Excel and ERP systems
  • A proactive and professional “can do” attitude
  • Good communication and team working skills across all levels
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills and problem solving abilities
  • Reached Qualified or Part qualified accountant status; or have equivalent experience
  • Previous experience as a Financial Controller in busy manufacturing environment would be an advantage
