Assistant Accountant:

Castle Accountancy & Finance are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to work for a highly-regarded leisure business based in Pickering, North Yorkshire. Working as an Assistant Accountant you will be offered a study support package to enable you to complete your studies if appropriate.

• This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who has recently completed a finance related degree or AAT level 4 and would like to progress to attain their ACCA or CIMA qualification.

• You will be a team player able to support both internal and external customers in an efficient, professional manner
• You will be responsible for providing financial accounting and management reporting support to the business as a whole

Requirements:

This role will suit a flexible and committed Assistant Accountant who is looking to build on and enhance their existing finance experience. Reporting to the Head of Finance, your duties will include; 

• Processing bank payments and transfers
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintaining the nominal ledger
• Preparing and posting the nominal journals 
• Identifying and developing improvements to processes and controls
• Provision of weekly and monthly reporting
• Investigating any variances
• Maintaining the fixed asset register 
• Assisting in the year end activities including Audit Files and statutory accounts
• Performing ad-hoc finance duties as requested by the Head of Finance

The successful candidate for the Assistant Accountant role will:

• Possess a high degree of computer literacy - including MS Excel
• Have excellent communication skills with the ability to resolve queries at all levels
• Have the ability to identify process flaws and solutions
• Hold a relevant finance related degree and / or AAT Level 4
• Be willing and able to study for their professional ACCA or CIMA qualification
