Infrastructure Solutions Architect
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £70,000

Working in the Professional Services Infrastructure Solutions Group, the Infrastructure Architect will ensure a cohesive approach to new technology. The role will collaborate with other IT teams; external customers and suppliers to ensure future Infrastructure and technology are validated against the needs of the business. The role will also act as a link to ensure a consistent approach to new technologies and services being developed.
The Infrastructure Architect will be actively involved in strategic planning. Interaction at senior management and technical engagement level will be required, providing a smooth and seamless transition to operational Business as Usual services. This role will also be a member of the Enterprise Architecture Steering Committee and Architecture Technical Authority groups
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Designs, Communicates, maintains and enforces the technology vision and architecture.
- Design of infrastructure services and systems
- Ensuring high quality infrastructure services are delivered
- Installation, documentation and seamless transition of new services/technologies to Business as Usual support
- Effective management of projects
- Business Continuity IT service design, planning and testing
- Member of the Enterprise Architecture Steering Committee and Architecture Technical Authority groups
- Line management, including mentoring, work scheduling and staff development
- Preparation of CERs in association with the Director of Infrastructure and Support and CIO
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Experience in the proposal, design and costing of large scale server based solutions – Citrix/terminal service/VDI/converged computing platforms
- Experience in the proposal, design and costing of large scale Data Centre migrations – understanding of Enterprise Storage (EMC)
- Experience of Mobility Management Solutions
- Experience of WAN acceleration solutions and network sizing
- Experience in negotiating contracts – commercial acumen
- ITIL v 3 experience
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and organisation skills
- Ability to manage virtual teams (in matrix style management
