Position Overview
Mentor’s Information Technology department strategically supports our engineers and corporate staff in more than 75 offices and R&D centers around the globe.  Our vision is to deliver exceptional services by results oriented employees through innovative, cost-effective, global solutions developed in collaboration with our customers. 


This position will provide technical expertise and support as part of the IT Global Infrastructure Team at Mentor.   As part of a Team you will be responsible for providing level 2 and 3 support globally for servers and storage infrastructure requiring a solid understanding of Problem Management, Incident Management, and Change Control processes.


Additional Responsibilities include the following:
•Supporting Storage Services and Virtualization using VMware tools
•General LINUX and UNIX support as well as systems administration
•Day-to-day support of technical services for the Engineering Divisions Globally.
•Identify hardware and software technical problems, storage and/or related system malfunctions, as well as upgrade and deploy SANs, NAS and related servers and services
•Creation of metrics and measures of utilization and performance
•Tuning of systems for optimal performance
•Partnering with team members globally to ensure we have common processes and procedures.
•Consultation with customers and team members to achieve optimal performance, utilization of resources, client configuration and best practices.
•Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded hardware and software releases as well as for storage infrastructure.
•Light support of Windows and ESX.

 

Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
•BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience and certifications).
•7-10+ years of Unix Systems Administration experience in a large enterprise-wide environment.
•Thorough knowledge of management and configuration of core Unix / LINUX protocols and services including: DNS, FTP, LDAP, NIS, NFS, Samba, and Sendmail
•Must have excellent scripting skills in Perl, Shell, Bourne, Bash or equivalent.
•Must have hands-on experience with Network Appliance filers, snapmirror and various storage administration tools.
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience supporting critical applications on the LINUX / UNIX operating system including OS installation and upgrade, package management, volume management, security auditing, and performance tuning
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a global distributed computing environments using tools such as Sun Grid / Oracle Grid, Platform Computing, or Univa Grid Engines
•Working knowledge of Solaris OS, Windows, Enterprise server & client hardware, HP/Dell and Sun/Oracle
•Experience with enterprise installation and management software such as HPSA or tools such as Jumpstart and Kickstart
•Must be familiar with build process of open source software and software package creation on Solaris and LINUX
•Experienced with enterprise monitoring, security, and networking (TCP/IP) concepts
•Experience with RedHat, SLES, CentOS, NAS - NetApp and HDS and associated components
•Experience with complex networking infrastructure including firewalls, VLANs, and load balancers
•Ticket routing tools such as HPSM
•Knowledge of Network Appliance storage desired.
•Must be detail oriented and organized. Excellent time-management skills. Good customer service and communications skills (oral/written). Ability to multi task, work independently and provide quality deliverables. Experience with project management, change control, and documentation skills a plus. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
