Position Overview
This position will provide technical selling support to the Americas' sales team out of the Fremont office. As a Place & Route Applications Engineer, you will be part of a team of product specialists contributing to the success of account managers working to increase the deployment of Mentor Graphics Place and Route products in North America accounts.
Responsibilities Include:
•Enabling customers to use and deploy Mentor Graphics family of Place and Route products in pre and post sales situations.
•Assisting Account Managers to determine sales execution strategy by identifying and qualifying the match-up between customer needs and Mentor Graphics products.
•Supporting sales activity with product demonstrations, evaluations, and competitive benchmarking.
•Providing technical support to customers including technical problem resolution and training.
•Conducts ongoing assessment of tool and process needs; identifying areas, proposing and implementing solutions to systems needs
•Communicating customers’ technical requirements to product marketing.
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
•BSEE required, MSEE preferred.
•Requires 5+ years of EDA or IC design experience in Place and Route, including hands-on experience with one/more of the following tools: Mentor ( Olympus - SoC), Synopsys ( IC Compiler, Physical Compiler), Cadence ( SoC Encounter), and Magma ( Talus, BlastFusion)
•Requires a strong understanding of Netlist-to-GDS flow. Experience in the areas of Floor planning, Placement, CTS, routing (65n and below), Signal integrity, static timing analysis and optimization, thorough understanding and full involvement in implementation of these phases in the physical design flow for large digital ASICs.
•Experience with Synopsys PrimeTime and StarRC or similar industry standard tools a plus.
•Prefer a minimum of 3+ years of demonstrated success within a software sales environment and a proven track record of promoting and supporting of sales growth and new business development are required.
•Must have a clear understanding of competitive products, excellent communication skills and have a high motivation to learn leading edge technologies.
•Must be creative, persistent, and possess problem solving skills that avoid project stalls.
•Strong analytical skills and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high level results.
