Here is an exciting opportunity to join the Global Technologies and Infrastructure group at Mentor Graphics as a Senior Systems Administrator and focus on our Distributed Computing ( Grid ) environment.
The selected individual will support multiple domains including the following operational and development responsibilities:
•Management of Distributed computing platform (Oracle Grid, Univa Grid, Platform Computing) supporting software engineering processes
•Management of LINUX and Solaris systems
•Creation of monthly metrics and measures of grid utilization and performance
•Tuning of Grid Masters for optimal performance
•Partnering with team members globally to ensure we have common processes and coverage plans
•Consultation with customers and team members to achieve optimal performance, utilization of resources, client configuration, best practices for job submission
•Capacity planning and implementation of new/upgraded software
The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:
•Minimum of 5 years experience supporting critical applications on the LINUX / UNIX operating system including OS installation and upgrade, package management, volume management, security auditing, and performance tuning
•Minimum of 3 years experience managing a global distributed computing ( Grid ) environments using tools such as Sun Grid / Oracle Grid, Platform Computing, or Univa Grid Engines
•Experience with virtualization technology such as Vmware
•Working knowledge of Solaris OS and Windows
•Familiarity with enterprise server & client hardware, HP/Dell and Sun/Oracle
•Experience with enterprise installation and management software such as HPSA or tools such as Jumpstart and Kickstart
•Must be familiar with build process of open source software and software package creation on Solaris and Linux
•Proven automation programming and/or scripting with Bourne, Bash, and Perl
•Experienced with monitoring, security, and networking (TCP/IP) concepts
•Thorough knowledge of management and configuration of core Unix/Linux protocols and services including: DNS, FTP, LDAP, NIS, NFS, Samba, and Sendmail
•Possess high level of troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
•Proficient communication and teamwork skills are a must since the selected candidate will be working with and advising senior technical and management staff of Mentor Graphics in the subject areas of Grid Utilization, Configuration and Performance
•Experience with RedHat, SLES, CentOS
•Experience with NAS - NetApp and HDS and associated components
•Experience with complex networking infrastructure including firewalls, VLANs, and load balancers
•Ticket routing tools such as HPSM
•Enterprise Monitoring tools and processes
