iFEED I&C / Automation Specialist

Job Purpose    

  • iFEED I&C / Automation Specialist is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation design and equipment technical and execution definition, selection, and design, including planning for Detailed Design, Procurement, Installation, and Testing / Commissioning. Ensures that related technical requirements (e.g. project specifications, data sheets, etc.) developed during FEED fully comply with project requirements.  Effectively collaborates and interfaces with Facilities Team and FEED contractor engineers and Operations personnel (as required) to ensure that the Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation scope of supply is fully integrated and optimized.  Provides oversight of the FEED contractor’s and Main Instrumentation and Control Contractor (MICC) production of associated deliverables within project budget and schedule.

 

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)          

 

  • Technical evaluation of multiple FEED tenders for large, capital project, ensuring that Tenders are compliant, technically qualified, and consistent with project requirements.
  • Effective stewardship of FEED contract, ensuring FEED contractor delivers Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation scope in accordance with project requirements, from contract award until delivery of FEED Dossier and/or assignment of LLI to EPC contractor(s).
  • Risk based evaluation of complex technical issues that may have significant commercial impacts to overall project execution.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders (e.g. Operations, SEQ) to ensure alignment on overall delivery of the Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation scope.
  • Maintaining constructive and positive working relationship with FEED contractor to ensure delivery of Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation scope per plan and inaccordance with project requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Provides Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering expertise.
  • Maintains close liaison with Head of Facilities and Facilities Team counterparts and gains alignment on Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering needs, objectives, and requirements.
  • Provides Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering data (narrative, charts, graphs, etc.) for the monthly progress reporting and stewardship.
  • Stewards the timely delivery of technical attachments and scope description to all Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation-related purchase orders and owns the Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation-related technical attachments and scope description to all fabrication and construction contracts.
  • Assesses contractor capability and ensures Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering or other technical support is available to address gaps
  • Stewards the FEED contractor's Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation-related activities with respect to Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering execution including:
    • Knowledgeable of Facilities and Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering execution plans, procedures, objectives, and overall job requirements.
    • Verifies that the FEED contractor staffs the Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation team with adequate numbers of qualified personnel.
    • Verifies that the FEED contractor employs the appropriate Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation design tools, including computer hardware and software.
    • Verifies that the FEED contractor adheres to all appropriate Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation specifications and standards.
    • Verifies that the FEED contractor to controls the Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation scope, i.e. accurate and timely progress measurement and reporting.
    • Verifies that the FEED contractor complies with design verification processes.
  • Advise the FEED contractor’s Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering and design organization with respect to:
    • Compliance with company policies for prevention of information brokering and compliance with business standards guidelines.
    • Engineering and design procedures, processes, and deliverables.
    • Staffing, including staffing plans, and personnel suitability and adequacy.
    • Resolution of FEED contractor’s engineering claims, if any.
  • Cooperates with review teams and supports post-audit activities with respect to contract administration and subcontracting.

Person Specification – Minimum Requirements

 

  • Broad and extensive knowledge of:
    • Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
    • Offshore facilities and structures design, construction, and operationsEngineering administration
  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in related Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering discipline.
  • 20+ years of closely related professional experience, 10+ years of which should be at the senior project engineering / engineering supervision level with overall responsibility for engineering execution

Technical and Business Skills   

  • Broad knowledge of design requirements of Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation engineering groups and disciplines
  • Execute work in full compliance with company Standards of Business Conduct and company Project Management System
  • Broad range of experience and skills through related assignments (e.g. project, operations, engineering)
