Job Purpose

  • In support of the Installation Manager and the Installation Lead, The Vessel Lead is responsible for implementing the planning, the preparation and execution of all aspects of the Transport and Installation components of the Project from load out through final installation offshore, ensuring all key objectives are achieved or exceeded.
  • The position is both an office position during all documentation preparation and engineering phase, and a site execution position during mobilisation, operations and demobilisation.
  • The Vessel Lead will be the Company Site Representative onboard the various offshore vessels, and as such will bear the responsibility for the offshore operations related to the transportation and installation works. Station on the main installation vessel (DB, DSV) is the base case while station on secondary vessels (Survey, FTV, etc.) may be required.
  • The Vessel Lead is also the main focal point  to the installation Management team and interface for all aspects related to the preparatory and operational activities related to offshore operations.
  • Capitalising on his experience, the Vessel Lead shall also be involved in the installation engineering to ensure that the installability of the design is consistent with established industry processes.
  • Effective issue resolution through interfacing with both Company and Contractor teams is an essential component of the role to ensure full alignment on the execution of the Project through to Startup.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Key contributor to the delivery of all Transport and Installation scope based on Contractor installation vessels and barges for the Project in accordance with agreed schedule and budget.
  • Review and approval of installation procedures, and possible involvement in the review of installation related engineering for offshore/subsea assets such as subsea pipelines and Cables, crossings, corrective freespan structures, jacket, deck/topside, flare and bridges, load out, transport and installations and others, as required,
  • Review Contractor lifting and rigging analysis,
  • Review, validate, approve, write technical project documents, as required;
  • Liaise with Contractor Project Teams and Vessels Management/Crews to obtain input data, agree in installation feasibility and support its Company Management team in Contractor installation activities reviews,
  • Liaise with Company/Contractor project teams to clarify installation procedures concerns.
  • Collaborate to develop and constantly improve tools and internal processes for installation methods activities,
  • Manage Contractor vessels/CBs mobilizations as well as installation phases on vessel in order to validate technical solutions by respecting the rules of the Group HSEQ
  • Be Company Site Representative on Contractor Offshore Vessels for offshore installation activities,

 

Qualifications

 

  • Degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 20+ years of major oil and gas offshore project experience with 10+ years as Company Site Representative offshore and Vessel Lead position (Company or Contractor for leading and managing major offshore transport and installation activities.
  • knowledge and proven experience of Transport, Installation and precommissioning of Conventional platforms, including jacket and topsides as well as subsea pipeline and cables etc.
  • Having autonomy, capacity to coordinate and communicate at its level within the organization are key assets to succeed at this position.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to lead interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, Contractor and suppliers.
  • Be assigned to Head Office during preparation / engineering phases, then to operation sites, onshore and offshore during execution phases according to requirements.
  • A fluent level in English (spoken, written and read) is essential.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of:
  •  Design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to transport and offshore installation of Offshore pipelines, cables and structures.
  •  Offshore facilities and structures, construction, operations and installation
  •  EPC Contract Management
  •  Load out, transport and installation methods and practices
  • Having work experience within the region could be a plus.

Technical and Business Skills       •          

  • High level of experience and proven track record for safely managing transport and installation to delivery high quality results, safely and on time and budget
  • Broad knowledge of safe execution of offshore lifting, piling, pipelay techniques, cable lay, trenching and diving activities
  • Broad knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with offshore green filed and brownfield modifications and working within a gas production facility
  • Strong past experience with major Operators and/or Contractors
  • Strong past experience with similar projects scope in the Gulf region.
  • Broad range of experience and skills through multiple function and project assignments (multi-discipline skill set)
  • Expansive knowledge of contract management and risks and mitigations associated with EPC contracting and execution
