In general, an employee in this sub-family: Manages a team who is responsible for the implementation of Plans, designs, and tests for complex voice, data, transport, or video/RF networks including individual components and interoperability of multiple network elements. May perform operational efficiency reviews and develop plans for improvements. Performs evaluation testing on hardware and software components for new or improved product offerings, network growth and/or customer-specific applications.
1-Manages staff including coordination of training and development for team members.
2-Manages capital and expense budgets.
3-Manages a team of personnel to ensure all test plans and installations take into account new interfaces, software enhancements, or changes in core products.
4-Oversees trending analysis and forecasting of various network elements to ensure system growth is accompanied by continued reliability.
5-Coordinates activities that minimize breaks in service and outages, and by facilitating internal and external communications and resolves scheduling issues.
6-Responsible for the preparation and monitoring of expense and capital budgets to assure cost effective expenditures in the department
7-Identifies and corrects operations barriers that hinder successful performance.
8-Provides technical assistance/direction to other departments as needed.
9-Evaluates and makes recommendation for the purchase of new test and plant equipment.
10-Prepares and maintains required departmental documentation including logs, reports and records.
Typical Training / Experience
Advanced degree and generally 5+ years experience in related field. Certification required in some areas
