An equity investment manager providing domestic and international fundamental and quantitative, long and long/short products with AUM of approximately $14B is seeking a hands-on developer responsible for providing order management systems development expertise and meeting the development needs of an investment boutique. The ideal candidate would develop requirements based on business needs and collaborate with a small team of developers to implement them from start to finish. The individual must have: • Five plus years of experience developing applications in the financial industry • Strong C# .NET, ASP.NET, and SQL Server Development skills with an emphasis on service-oriented architecture • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented concepts • Strong values and ethics • Solid oral and written communication skills Description of Responsibilities: 1. Engineer solutions to address the needs of the front office drawing on experience gained in the financial industry. 2. Analyze and interpret business requirements to define and develop technical requirements / specifications. 3. Design, develop, test and support a .NET service-oriented architecture to centralize all business application and system requirements for all levels of the Software Design Life Cycle (SDLC). 4. Design, develop, test and support a host of applications which provide a core set of tools for the Portfolio Managers, Trading Desk, Operations and IT teams. 5. Re-Engineer existing processes to conform to new systems development standards based on .NET. 6. Develop web service components for an established .NET framework. 7. Interact with technology teams and business area staff at all levels of seniority to gather requirements. 8. Participate in project post-implementation reviews to promote continuous improvement to the process. Charles River Investment Management System (OMS): System ownership including maintenance, upgrades, day-to-day support, data transfer and system integration.
1. Education Level: BA/BS from top college or university 2. Industry Experience: 5+ years of technology development experience obtained within the securities industry. Experience working for a quantitative manager is a plus. 3. Application Knowledge: Experience with implementing/supporting trade order management systems and accounting systems a plus. 4. Technical Skills: Must have prior working experience in the following: • .NET (C#): Objects, Windows Forms, ADO.NET, web services, remoting, threading • Oracle, Sybase, DB2 and/or SQL Server: schema, relations, stored procedures, functions, triggers • Support of or development in a scripting environment • Writing and executing test cases in an Agile and/or TDD environment • Code promotion through the SLDC • Documenting and debugging existing systems through code analysis
