The Role:
- As a Commercial Contracts Manager, Commercial Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for setting the company's commercial and contractual position on all sales & projects that come through the company.

- You will actively support the operational teams in the resolution of disputes/claims, negotiating the best outcome and timely payment of invoices.

- You will set and review the company's terms and conditions, making sure that they are commercially viable terms and conditions, whilst protecting the company.

- You will communicate these terms & conditions to all of your stakeholders and employees, reducing the risk of bad debt.

- You will take an initial assessment of customer claims to ascertain the validity of the claim, giving feedback on the contractual position & acting as a point of escalation for claims.

- Where necessary, you'll attend customer meetings to conclude claims/disputes, in support of the operational teams.

- The Commercial Contracts Manager, Commercial Quantity Surveyor will assist with the preparation of costs and risk analysis & where necessary liaise with lawyers to ensure speedy resolution.

- You'll provide monthly management reports on status with ongoing legal disputes.

- You will coach colleagues in contractual matters. You will work closely with the Finance Manager.

- Our client has multiple projects going on at all times, ranging in value from £5k- £2.5 million & you will ultimately be the go to person for all contractual/legal issues.

- You will be in open communication with your contracts managers, project coordinators, service team, technical team and credit control team, to provide any contractual advice and support.

The Successful Candidate:

- The successful Commercial Contracts Manager, Commercial Quantity Surveyor will have a QS qualification, such as RICS, IOB or have a Construction related Degree & ideally membership of a professional body such as CIPS

- 6+ years’ experience in the commercial construction industry needed.

- Experience in preparing and agreeing commercial contractual terms and conditions for direct contracting.

- Preparation of valuations & applications for payment and knowledge of valuation techniques.

- Effective dispute resolution through negotiation or adjudication.

- Construction sales experience would be great with a supply only company, or a sub-contractor or working for a manufacturer or with approved installers.

- Previous experience in Quantity Surveying in the facade, fenestration, curtain walling, balustrades, balconies, solar shading, aluminium systems, building envelope would be great.

- Previous experience of training staff on contractual matters.

- Able to handle pressure and keep emotions under control in difficult situations.

- You'll be a confident communicator and good team player.

- Able to manage conflict and disagreements effectively.

The Remuneration Package:

- Basic salary of £45k-£55k (dependent on experience)

- Performance related bonus on personal targets of a possible £5k

- £6k car allowance or quality company car.

- Pension contribution of 5% from employer and 4% from employee.
