Salary:  GBP0 - GBP32000 per annum


The Natural History Museum’s purpose is to inspire a love of our natural world and to help people unlock answers to some of the big issues facing humanity and the planet – its past, present and future.  Digital technology plays a key role in achieving this goal and the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate data is central to the museum's success. The digital media and marketing department is looking for a skilled data analyst/scientist to help support the decision-making capabilities of the commercial, science and consumer product teams.

You will work with the lead data analyst to provide data analysis and interpretation to the digital media and marketing department and produce predictive and statistical models from a variety of datasets to help improve the museums decision making capabilities.

In addition, you will be the data owner for several key datasets, responsible for integrity, quality and accessibility. You will work with the new product teams to improve data literacy within them and democratise basic data analysis across the whole department.

Key skills required:

  • An undergraduate degree in maths, science or computing or with a good knowledge of statistics.
  • Demonstrable experience of using data science tools such as R or Python to develop robust statistical and predictive models.
  • High data literacy, familiar with the concept of ‘tidy data’
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate complex data with visualisations (both static and interactive) that are easily interpretable by non-technical users.
  • A passion for data science and the power of statistics to drive decision making.
  • A demonstrable interest in new developments in data science.

Salary: £32,000 per annum plus benefits

Contract: Permanent appointment

Hours: 36 hours per week.
