Hampton’s are working in partnership with a National Voluntary Adoption Agency who are looking for a new Head of Service.

The Head of Service will be responsible for leading the strategic and operational development, management and growth of the VAA. Reporting into the Managing Director, you will be managing a team of up to 15 staff.

Responsibilities

• develop and lead an outstanding voluntary adoption agency (VAA) as judged by Ofsted
• achieve an agreed minimum of approved adopters and adoptive placements per year
• ensure that the VAA has the ability to grow sustainably
• implement an effective strategy to recruit and assess prospective adopters who can meet most of the needs of those children for whom adoption is the plan
• guarantee that people who are interested in becoming adoptive parents, and prospective adopters, are treated fairly, without prejudice, openly and with respect
• ensure that all prospective adopters are thoroughly prepared and rigorously assessed to become adoptive parents in a sensitive and empowering manner
• ensure that unnecessary delay in adopter preparation and assessment, and matching and placement is avoided at all costs

Person Specification

• Hold a Social Work Qualification as recognised by the HCPC
• Registered as a social worker with the HCPC
• At least 2 years recent and relevant experience of providing adoption services to children/young people and their families
• At least 1 year of experience supervising and managing social work teams.
• Experience working in the Adoption sector, including recruitment of adopters, detailed understanding and awareness of legislation, research and best practice.

Salary – £55,000 + Benefits Package + Car
