Director of Social Media

Director of Social Media (Freelance) Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey

Role Purpose:

CNBC Business News is looking for a Manager/Director level professional in Social Media Communications, reporting to VP News PR, CNBC Communications and dotted line to the SVP of Alternative Programming to help drive and implement social media communications for CNBC’s alternative programming. This position will be responsible for social media communications from the perspective of developing strategy and, implementing tactics that drive interest and viewership to the cable network’s reality programming.

 

Responsibilities:

• Implement social media communications across various platforms and social communities that drives interest and increases viewership. (ie., translate press releases and NBC News announcements across Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Youtube, Pinterest, etc.)

• Manage social media communications campaigns and day-to-day activities

• Work directly with on-air talent, producers and programming executives with the purpose of assisting them with their own social media communications

• Develop and maintain relationships with bloggers and viewers through social media. Keep updated/current lists of social media influencers across multiple categories.

• Actively “listen” to the social media community and regularly report on findings to executives and internal stakeholders.

• Identify opportunities, trends and features in the social media space

                 

Qualifications/Requirements           

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.

• 5 years communications experience, with demonstrated experience in and passion for the social media space.

• In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, Foursquare, blogs, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios.

• Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms including but not limited to Hootsuite, Topsy, Crimson Hexagon, Omniture, Facebook Insights, YouTube Insights, Google Analytics, and TweetDeck.

• Basic understanding of web languages such as html and CSS.

• Weekend work will be required.
