Electrical Estimator

Salary: NZD80000 - NZD100000 per annum + Car + Bonuses


This renowned and successful Electrical Sub-Contractor based in East Tamaki is on the lookout for an intermediate-experienced Electrical Estimator required for commercial work within a friendly, supportive and professional environment. This franchise is best known for their elite service in providing electrical and control solutions to the water and wastewater industry. This includes full design, installation and commissioning service of contracts

Duties/responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyse project documentation to scope, organize, and deliver equipment, material, and labour cost estimates
  • Prepare cash flow, escalation, and interest during construction calculations for estimates.
  • Perform risk analysis/range estimating for establishing cost contingency.
  • Prepare and develop bills of material from design engineering drawings.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, engineering personnel, or construction contractors, to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Coordinate information flow and schedules with project team members, to complete estimates on time.
  • Prepare, supply, and continuously update the cost and quantity details for internal database of equipment, suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.

You will possess the following skills/experience and qualifications:

  • Experience preparing cost and/or quantity estimates for oil refineries, -fossil, nuclear power plants or heavy industrial plants.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project scheduling experience.
  • Experience with cost estimating tools and database applications.
  • Understanding of the following basic engineering drawings: General Arrangement, Single Line, and P&ID.
  • Knowledge of resources for estimating craft labour rates, man-hours and labour productivity.
  • Knowledge of resources for commodity pricing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A relevant building science, construction management or civil engineering degree/recognised diploma
