As a key member of RMS Cloud Operations, the Senior Cloud Operations Platform Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, setup and ongoing operational support for all RMS hosted product offerings. This position interfaces with RMS clients, Software Development, QA, Product Management and other operations teams involved with product delivery.
Key Accountabilities & Deliverables:

  • Manage software and patches through the release process, including:

o   Ensure product readiness by working with product owners and developers to define, design, and support implementation
o   Install, configure and validate software on the RMS cloud
o   Automate (through scripting) the orchestration of complex workloads across multiple hardware platforms
o   Perform off-hour change controls
o   Transfer knowledge to other Operations Engineers through training
o   Production of technical documentation

  • Operate software on the RMS cloud, notably:

o   Deploy and destroy cloud resources
o   Provision new clients
o   Perform complex troubleshooting of multiple applications
o   Support clients through ticket resolution
o   Monitor and improve application performance, security and usage
o   Respond to incidents during working hours and off hours (when on call)
o   Improve the platform through requirements to and working with DevOps, Development and Quality Engineering

  • Support RMS hosting partners, including:

o   Coordinate and provision physical equipment
Work side by side at hosting locations with partners for training and knowledge transfer
Experience Required:

  • Production applications and systems support for a client facing, highly available environment
  • Author SQL queries at an intermediate level
  • Experience with DevOps scripting and automation
  • Fluency with Internet technologies - HTTP, HTML, XML, FTP, Web Services, etc.
  • Understanding of network elements such as firewalls, load balancers, DNS, DHCP, NAT
  • Windows or Linux system administration, preferably both
  • Experience with various virtualization technologies, preferably VMware, and have a broad understanding of the virtual to cloud eco-system
  • Proven experience designing, integrating and maintaining high-performance production Linux-based IT systems, including systems, storage and networks
  • Must possess experience configuring and maintaining secure, large-scale, complex, distributed applications/platforms
  • Experience with application deployment, troubleshooting, production support.

  • ITIL knowledge (certification or experience)
  • Web Servers:  Apache 2.0, Tomcat, IIS
  • Databases: SQL Server, Mongo, Vertica, PostgresQL
  • Distribution Frameworks: Hadoop/HDFS
  • Data Warehouse Tools: Microstrategy, Informatica
  • Source control/integration: SVN, TFS, Git, Hudson, Jenkins, CruiseControl
  • Scripting languages: Puppet, Chef, Powershell, Ruby, Bash scripting or other language
  • Monitoring Tools: Nagios, Zenoss, Splunk
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
