Security Engineer – IBM Z Mainframe
Advantage Resourcing are recruiting for an IBM System Z Security Engineer for our client in Wiltshire who can offer technical experience with IBM Mainframe operating systems, including z/OS and z/VM. This experience must include in-depth skills and knowledge of control features in both the operating systems, all subsystems (e.g. DB2) and applications as well as the Security System (RACF).

Activities
• Be an agent for change within the organisation. Ensure changes are made to improve IBM Mainframe security (and other) wherever needed.
• Be an authority for security issues related to the IBM Mainframe (and possibly other platforms) with the organisation.
• Work to grow the skills within the security engineering practice.
• Work with application development teams to ensure secure systems are designed, built and delivered.
• Work with infrastructure teams to ensure that the IBM Mainframe environment designs take account of security requirements, are in line with the policy and minimise known security risks and threats.
• Work with other security groups within the organisation to ensure that applications are secure from end to end.
• Ensure that a process of risk reduction is always underway for the IBM Mainframe environment.
• Work to ensure that there is continuous improvement, using the security capability maturity model (CMM) as a form of measurement.

Experience
• Detailed technical experience with IBM Mainframe operating systems, including z/OS and z/VM. This must include in-depth skills and knowledge of control features in both the operating systems, all subsystems (e.g. DB2) and applications as well as the Security System (RACF).
• Highly experienced in testing controls, including penetration testing and ethical hacking – must be able to risk assess and articulate control deficiencies to stakeholders in a manner whereby the risk(s) to the business are understood.
• Security Management in Distributed environments is desirable (not essential) since the Security Engineer will interface with other non-mainframe Security Engineers to ensure end-to-end security.
• Experience with installation, configuration and extensive use of security management products, such as IBM Security zSecure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong influencing and persuasion skills, particularly at senior management level.
