Salary: NZD80 - NZD90 per hour


A leading main contractor is seeking to employ an estimator on a contract basis. The company is relatively new to the New Zealand market and due to this, they are seeking an experienced construction estimator with experience tendering commercial projects such as Schools, Prisons, Government Buildings, Hospitals etc… The company has a turnover over $500m and has the processes and procedures to help your contracting career continue to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates and quotes from sets of drawings and plans provided to Supply Chain team primarily by Project Management team.
  • Provide detailed quotes for a wide range of different projects, education, government, hospitals etc…
  • Provide detailed quotes for products or components not produced within the business.
  • Ensure estimates and quotes are complete, accurate and provided within the agreed time-frames.
  • Order and ensure third parties’ product are provided on time and at the expected quality.
  • Review actuals to provide ongoing improvements to the pricing accuracy.
  • Manage manufacture of some projects internally when required.

Measurements

  • Estimates and quotes are complete, detailed, accurate and provided within the agreed timeframes.
  • Products and components sourced meet client and Company standards and are competitively priced within agreed margins.
  • Labour costs estimated are complete and accurate.
  • Ensure every “job” is reviewed and reported in respect of financial cost and financial profitability.
  • Prepare and share comparative reports on all jobs- quote against actual and true financial cost.
  • Review processes and procedures for continuous improvement.
  • Documentation and records are ordered, maintained and easy accessed.
  • Communication across the internal teams is clear and constructive.
