Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Verify that management expectations are complied with including safety culture and provide plant personnel periodic communication on the same to ensure that expectations are aligned throughout the department.
  • Conduct periodic visits to the plant facilities to check plant condition and ensure adherence to all quality and Health and Safety standards.
  • Implement plant strategies, plans and management process improvements to support achieving plant performance targets, and long-term plant reliability.
  • Establish effective management systems in the maintenance organization to fulfil the requirements of the Operating License and the Operating Policies and Principles.
  • Implement or support implementing the necessary nuclear power plant management systems to establish and maintain continuity in all plant activities.

  • Validate that maintenance governance is in place and that actual performance is monitored against established performance criteria through various means such as self-assessment programs, performance monitoring programs, and direct personal observation to maintain optimal efficiency in delivering energy.

  • oversee the implementation of and compliance with maintenance procedures to ensure long term reliability and program effectiveness.
  • Validate that long-term/repetitive problems are being resolved to avoid future avoid future operational discontinuity.

  • Review plant operating, maintenance, testing, and other procedures in accordance with license requirements to ensure regulatory and operational compliance.
  • Verify that maintenance operations are consistent with specified policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with regulations and quality work
  • Establish standards for housekeeping, material condition, as well as maintenance effectiveness in line with operational guidelines to ensure consistent, effective performance.
  • Implement the Conduct of Maintenance standards and expectations to provided effective and efficient maintenance management.
  • Verify that the plant is consistent with nuclear maintenance requirements, the license, and design basis, and ensure industry events related to maintenance are reviewed and lessons learned are incorporated into maintenance programs, processes and procedures to provide for continuous improvement.

Staff Training and Qualification
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Validate that ) training programs provide the necessary skills to assure maintenance personnel are capable of safely, reliably and efficiently performing activities in accordance with regulations and approved guidelines and procedures.
  • Establish performance standards, goals and objectives for training and communicate these expectations with department personnel and training department to ensure that training is meeting the needs of the Maintenance division.
  • Coordinate with the training department to establish and maintain course content and emphasis, to determine and support training schedules, to accomplish on-the-job training and evaluation, to observe training activities, and to provide feedback to adjust course content and emphasis as necessary.
  • Establish qualification standards and evaluation methods to verify operational personnel are competent to perform assigned functions.
