Castle Hospitality & Cleaning division have an exciting on-going opportunity and are recruiting for Sous Chefs for our local unique hospitality client based in the Scarborough, North Yorkshire area.

Our range of clients are varied within Castle Employment, you could find yourself working in a leading gastro pub, hotel, restaurant or even a local care home. Allowing you to have complete flexibility in your clients.

Reporting to the Head Chef, you will proactively assist in ensuring the overall quality and effectiveness of the kitchen department. As Sous Chef you will ensure consistent standards in all areas of the kitchen, the main aim being guest care and satisfaction.

As Sous Chef you will be working closely with the Executive Head Chef and the Head Chef daily assisting with the daily running of the kitchens and menu development, this may be in the main kitchen or in the separate function kitchen, numbers are manageable and consistently serving 60+ in the restaurants, hotel venues and local pubs.

  • Able to motivate and delegate effectively – excellent team leadership skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with an eye for detail and the ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Highly motivated with a drive to succeed to be the best.
  • To prepare, cook and serve food as specified and ensure this meets the appropriate specification, constantly striving for quality and consistence.
  • To ensure that all working areas are kept clean and tidy always.
  • Assisting the Head chef in supervising food preparation and production.
  • Assisting the Head chef to ensure HACCP is in place to ensure due diligence.
  • Monitoring the temperature, quality and portion size of all food served from the kitchen areas.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and resourcefully.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and demeanour, including courteous interactions with colleagues and employees, encountered during work.
  • Be flexible with work schedules, remain calm and courteous and exercise self-control when interacting with impatient individuals.

Salary: Dependant on Experience
