Midwife

Midwife (14635) Libya

Background:

The IRC is currently starting its operations in Libya with the funding from SIDA to an emergency and reproductive healthcare programme, targeting especially vulnerable non-displaced Libyans, IDPs, and refugees and migrants in the Misrata area.  According to assessments, healthcare is considered the biggest need in Libya, most urgently in terms of medical supplies, medicines, and health staff. There are significant gaps in the response, according to Libya’s Ministry of Health (MoH), the Libyan Red Crescent, UN agencies, and international NGOs.

Support from SIDA will reach beneficiaries of all ages, including women, men, girls, and boys, both Libyans and refugees/migrants. The emergency health activities—distribution of drugs and supplies, staff support, and trainings—will support the treatment of individuals of all age groups. The reproductive health activities—secondment of a midwife, RH trainings, and distributions of dignity and hygiene kits—will specifically target women and girls.
