Education Director

Education Director (304954) Salem, Massachusetts

Salary: USD15 - USD16 per hour


This person will be responsible for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a broad range of programs in the Core Program Areas of Education and Career Development; reports to Program Director, manages equipment and supplies for homework room. Oversee all education and academic criteria for our Club Members; developing and maintaining partnerships with all elementary, middle and high school principals, teachers and academic supports; meeting with outside organizations that can enhance our education, enrichment and academic program offerings. Recruitment of volunteers & tutors as homework support.

Knowledge: Principles related to youth development; Common Core State Standards; development of lesson plans; familiar with district learning initiatives.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field

Environment and Working Conditions:
Work is conducted in a Club setting – indoors and outdoors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and support youth as they strive towards academic success and secondary education.
  2. Identify our target members and create a support system for academic success; such as those that may be failing.
  3. Develop a working relationship with all schools, along with their administration and faculty members.
  4. Create partnerships with local organizations that can enhance our academic supports; Salem State University, Leap for Education, Salem Public Library etc.
  5. Familiar with the learning initiatives for English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies in the district.
  6. Attend all meetings related to education and academics
  7. Work with homework room staff to develop an efficient homework check system.
  8. Recruits volunteers and tutors to provide support in our homework room.
  9. Ordering and management of homework room supplies and materials.
  10. Attend all summer camp field trips. Responsible for a group of 12 to 20 campers each day with the assistance of other camp staff.
